It's Official

After much prayer, contemplation, weighing the pros/cons, talking with my hubby and soul-searching, I have officially decided to be a stay-at-home mommy. I have been on a 2-year leave from my job teaching 8th grade literature at CHMS, and I had to go back this Aug. in order to maintain my tenure and keep my employment. So, when Sullivan County called last week to see if I was returning, my heart began to pound and I broke out in a sweat, but I told them, "No, I've decided to stay at home with my babies at least until they go to kindergarten . "

This was a huge decision because:

1. I just finished my Masters degree in December (Thanks Dad--I owe you one:) ).
2. I never planned on being a stay-at-home-mom.
3. I REALLY wanted a new kitchen!

Okay, so the kitchen thing was really what was motivating me to go back. I finally had to admit to myself that the desire for material things such as shopping sprees to Target (that's big time for us middle class folks) and the want of new appliances (mine are the poop-brown 1968 models) was my only real reason for wanting to go back to work. Thankfully, one day as I was playing with my kiddos in the yard I finally came to grips with my lust for a stainless steel fridge and double oven and listened to the Holy Spirit's prompting.

That said, I totally admire working mommies. Mine worked, and I had a GREAT life (and got to do lots of extra fun stuff because of it). For some reason, right now, working as a teacher is not where God wants to use me in particular---though I am very thankful that there are lots of other mommies he is using to touch the lives of students on a daily basis.

Check back with me in the middle of December when I've been stuck inside with two crazy toddlers, eating cheese sandwiches for 3 weeks straight, and ask me how things are going. Right now, I'm enjoying every moment. Okay, most moments-- minus the tantrums, spilled juice/milk, messy house, nap time meltdowns and diaper explosions.

These are some of the good moments:

Skinny dipping
Playing dress-up

Sprinkler baseball

I am so happy for you!!!! You will never regret more time with your kiddos. You will go crazy but you would have gone crazier trying to balance everything.
WAY TO GO!!!

Hip hip hurray!! I think that being a stay at home mom has been the most challening job I've had so far, BUT as a result, I feel like my kids have been blessed, and my character has grown in ways it would not have otherwise. Kudos to you for listening to what God wants you to do.

Stainless steel is out and poop-brown is in! Congrats on your decision! I know it is hard, I struggle with it a lot myself. Karson and Brady are very lucky to have you as their mommy!
