Slimy

The other day, I was reading a mommy blog where readers were asked the question, "What things do you do to entertain your children in the summer?" Folks gave responses about enrolling their children in music classes, taking them to museums, doing all sorts of craft projects, teaching them to garden, taking them to theme/water-parks. While we do many of those things here in the Land of Oz..........this is a real look at a typical day of entertainment at our house:

Meet Slimy. Yep, he's a slug. Yep, my daughter found him, named him and kept him for a pet.....that is until she drowned him in our fabulous swimming pool.......pictured below.

Yep, they are fully clothed.........which is not a good representation of a typical day of backyard swimming because usually they are in their under-roos or completely naked. Yep, the water is full of mulch and dirt. Yep, our grass is completely scorched!

Sometimes, I think it would be nice to live in one of those ritzy neighborhoods with a community pool. But, then again, they probably don't allow naked kids to bring their pet slugs swimming and then tinkle on the grass while their mamas supervise from lawn chairs still wearing their pjs and yesterday's make-up.
