Drab to Fab

Between refereeing fights, scrubbing dried fruit off the kitchen floor and wiping little bottoms, I have still managed to have a few projects going on around the house. One of them has been recovering my dining room chairs. I always wanted Chippendale style chairs. So, they (along with the dining room table) were one of my very first big purchases when I got a "permanent" teaching position. Even though the chairs are only about 6 years old and in perfect condition (we have only eaten an actual meal in the dining room once........and that was for an anniversary dinner I made pre-kids........on wedding china that has only been used once as well), they still needed sprucing up a bit.

Don't go getting the idea that we are friendless or uncouth. We have had lots of friends over, parties, etc., but people always migrate to couches and the breakfast room instead. Maybe it is because these chairs are just so drab and have ugly sea-shell-like designs on the cushions. Never-the-less, I love the chairs themselves but detest the off-white yuck-o seats!

I could stand them no longer! So....................I recovered them with this happy, inviting, golden material that compliments my wall color and looks great with my red toile curtains.

(I know this is sideways, but my computer refused to cooperate with my efforts to change it.)
AHHHHHHH.......... So much more charming! Now, maybe we'll finally make it back into the dining room again for our second dinner sometime soon. Okay, I have to be honest........the likelihood of that is doubtful. There is no way I'm letting anyone spill something on these babies! Just kidding......okay, not really!
